Biography

Dr. Aur茅lien Buie is a Nurse Leader and philanthropist. She is the Director for Nursing Continuing Professional Development and the former Assistant Dean of Executive and Continuing Education and Academic-Practice Partnerships at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at 麻豆精品视频. As the Director of the RN-BSN program at Palm Beach State College (PBSC), she has implemented a vision and strategic plan that have yielded curriculum excellence, exponential growth, program retention and completion, as well as increased interdepartmental and community partnerships. These approaches serve as a model for the other bachelor鈥檚 programs. Prior to this promotion, she was a Faculty member in the Associate Degree Nursing Program at PBSC for 12 years. She is the recipient of the 2018 Martin Luther King Leadership Award from Palm Beach State College, the 2018 Achievement Award from Royal Palm Beach High School, and the 2018 Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA)鈥檚 Outstanding Nursing Leadership Award, and has been nominated for other awards as well.

Dr. Aur茅lien Buie started her career in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and has been a part of the Nursing Profession for over 30 years, practicing in multiple areas and holding varied leadership roles. She is a national and international speaker on topics related to nursing education, nursing workforce heterogeneity, and healthcare needs of incarcerated women. Dr. Aur茅lien Buie holds a Doctorate in Education (focus: Leadership Educational Administration) from The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida; a Master鈥檚 of Science with a Primary Care focus from Northeastern University in Massachusetts; a Post-Master鈥檚 certificate in Psychiatry/Mental Health from 麻豆精品视频, and a Bachelor in Science Nursing from UMASS, Boston Massachusetts. She is a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.听

Dr. Aur茅lien Buie is the immediate past co-Chair of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) Women鈥檚 Health Committee and together they published a position paper related to the issue of shackling of incarcerated women (of color) during the labor/delivery period; in 2019, the committee completed two (2) resolutions regarding maternal mortality and healthcare of incarcerated women. Dr. Aur茅lien Buie served with the south region team for the Florida Action Coalition. In response to the call from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) 2010 Report on the Future of Nursing, and to advance the Nursing profession, she and her colleagues worked on an 鈥渢he Nurse Champion鈥 project, aiming at empowering nurses in the State of Florida. Her philanthropic works has taken her to Haiti where she was instrumental in the education/training of the first ever graduating class of Family Nurse Practitioners in Haiti in November 2017.

Dr. Aur茅lien Buie鈥檚 involvements in the community include serving on Boards of regional and local healthcare corporations/organizations She is the immediate past President for Palm Beach County Black Nurses Association (PBCBNA) and recently served as the Vice President of Sigma Iota Xi Chapter-at-large, Nursing Honor Society.

Louise enjoys the beach (sunrise/sunset), reading, traveling, volunteering, and spending time with her family and friends.
