‘Grand Slam’ for Research – NIH Grants Total $2 Million

In August and September, four researchers in the department of biomedical science received grants from the National Institutes of Health totaling nearly $2 million. The four research awards are related to investigating neuropsychiatric symptoms commonly associated with Alzheimer’s disease; investigating the mechanism regulating viral latency and pro-viral activation in HIV; the molecular mechanisms underlying sex differences in substance use related to cocaine; and a program that will provide state-of-the-art capabilities to serve biomedical research.
