Meet the 2021 Art of Science Judges: Georgios Sklivanitis

Conveying Abstract Science

First time juror, Georgios Sklivanitis, Ph.D., comes to the 2021 Art of Science photography contest with a fresh perspective and an excitement to witness how faculty, staff and students present their research, scholarship or creative activity through photography, he said.

Sklivanitis, is a research assistant professor in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. He is also one of the founding members of FAU's Center for Connected Autonomy and AI and a faculty fellow in the Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering. His research focuses on wireless communication systems, wireless networks and the application artificial intelligence and machine learning to connected autonomous systems.

"They say that a picture is worth a thousand words," Skilvantis said. "Photography can help abstract and convey complex science and research concepts in a creative way."
