Charity O'neal
Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing student Charity O'neal is pursuing a nursing degree to become more involved in patient care and play a larger role in improving health outcomes.
Scheduled to graduate in December 2026, O'neal is part of the Davie campus cohort of 麻豆精品视频's accelerated track, which is designed for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in another field and are seeking to become registered nurses.
O'neal previously earned bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Natural Applied Sciences, as well as a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in healthcare.
For the past three years, she has worked as a case worker, educating women during pregnancy. While she found the work rewarding, she wanted to take a more active role in patient care.
"Although I've helped make an impact on health outcomes, I couldn't help but feel like I could be doing more and felt called to start nursing school," she said. "I want to help promote positive health outcomes for everyone who steps into a hospital."
Throughout the program, O'neal has benefited from the guidance of an official mentor at the college. Her mentor, who holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, has followed the same professional path she hopes to pursue in the future.
"She has inspired me through her wisdom and love for improving patients' well-being," O'neal said. "She continues to change health outcomes, and I hope to do the same in the coming years."
O'Neal believes earning a nursing degree will allow her to take a more active role in patient care while building on the health education experience she has already gained.
Currently working as an educator, she looks forward to collaborating more closely with patients and healthcare teams in a clinical setting.
"As a nurse, I will be able to educate patients, work closely with the healthcare team and be more involved in decisions," she said. "After working bedside for a few years, I hope to continue my education and earn my DNP."
The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing track is offered in Davie in the spring and in Boca Raton and Davie in the fall. Applications for Spring 2027 open April 1 and close July 31, 2026, while applications for Fall 2027 open September 1, 2026, and close February 5, 2027.
