NASA CubeSat for Life Science Research
Overview
Understanding how to grow fresh food for astronauts is necessary to support long missions to the Moon and Mars. Current research platforms lack the time, resources, and space to conduct the amount of testing required. Therefore, a low-cost, high-yield solution is essential to advance the future of off-Earth farming.
Community Benefit
We have developed a CubeSat that can host a variety of plant experiments. We conclude that our technology has the potential to transform CubeSat platforms by creating a constellation farm of satellites that advances research into autonomous growth platforms on Earth, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
